SEIU vs. Newsom — October 21. Please hold. Your solidarity is important to us.
Why it matters
SEIU Local 1000 has announced a one-day strike for October 21, 2026, accusing the state of bad-faith bargaining. The customer-service joke turns workers’ demands into a call left on hold while Newsom admires his reflection. Its target is the perceived gap between a politician’s pro-worker image and the experience of the workers negotiating with his administration: solidarity sounds hollow when the people asking for a fair contract feel ignored.
