Standardized household basket

PCE is an economy-wide price measure, the ISM Prices Index measures breadth of reported increases, and the Treasury yield is a financing benchmark. None substitutes for the standardized household basket: purchase price or rent, mortgage interest, property tax, insurance, maintenance, utilities, food, retail goods, services, medical and prescription costs, transport and fuel, childcare, education, communications, debt service, taxes and other recurring costs. Household type, income and region differ, and transmission can take weeks or months.
