Justice Creates an Up-Front Fraud Whistleblower Reward Program

Justice launched the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program, offering discretionary $10,000 to $30,000 payments after qualifying tips lead to criminal charges in specified federal health-care and benefit-program fraud areas. Treasury committed $25 million for implementation. The program changes the timing of possible rewards, but charges are not convictions and the funding is not money recovered. Useful outcome measures will include qualified submissions, payments, prevented losses, adjudicated cases, forfeitures and funds actually returned.
